At the 4th Xuzhou International Construction Machinery Exhibition, XCMG showcased its latest generation of new energy excavators, highlighting a comprehensive product portfolio designed for diverse construction scenarios. Rather than relying on a single electrification approach, XCMG offers battery-electric, cable-powered, and hybrid excavators, providing customers with flexible solutions that improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and support sustainable construction.
The company’s cable-powered excavators are designed for continuous heavy-duty applications such as mining and solid waste processing. By drawing power directly from the grid, these machines deliver virtually unlimited operating time while reducing battery dependence, lowering both initial investment and lifecycle operating costs.
XCMG’s hybrid excavators combine the company’s self-developed hybrid technology with intelligent power management to achieve an optimal balance between performance and fuel efficiency. Compared with conventional models, the hybrid system reduces fuel consumption by more than 15%, allowing customers to save up to RMB 300,000 in annual fuel costs during demanding mining and heavy excavation operations.
Instead of adopting a single technology route, XCMG has developed multiple power solutions to match different operating conditions. This diversified approach enables customers to select the most suitable machine based on workload, energy availability, and cost requirements, creating a complete new energy excavator portfolio for a wide range of applications.
Several models demonstrated these capabilities during the exhibition. The XE215EV electric excavator performed steel scrap sorting and material handling with precise electric drive control, improving operational efficiency. The XE215EK cable-powered excavator utilized grid electricity for material mixing operations, significantly reducing operating costs. Meanwhile, the XE750GK HEV hybrid excavator handled heavy-duty breaker applications, delivering powerful performance while maintaining excellent fuel economy.
As the industry shifts from comparing individual machine performance to evaluating complete construction solutions, XCMG is expanding its role from equipment manufacturer to solution provider. By integrating advanced equipment, application-specific technologies, and lifecycle service support, the company is helping customers improve productivity, reduce emissions, and accelerate the transition toward greener and more efficient construction operations.
